In order to achieve the primary goal of enjoyment, a budget-friendly design was conceived, catering to younger crowds especially within a college campus setting.
For 3 months, coordination between our design marketer and design team lead and visual designer was essential when considering materials and equipment.
My role: Design Moderator and Interaction/Content Designer involved:
Creative product design and story boarding using Sketchbook.
Using Tinker CAD to 3D model the wrist band device.
Laid out the wire diagram and functionality of the app using Figma.
THE JAM-BAND
Story Board
We outlined the process of purchasing, the JamBand online, with the option of an assorted set of packages to cater to a venues atmosphere and volume.
The various sketches indicate the typical process of using the app, purchasing a select amount of JAM BANDS, and engaging with their newly purchased device along with the interfaces that they can interact with upon linking their device to their app via bluetooth connection.
To enhance engagement, we developed a “Host Interface” that provided event organizers with real-time up to date data during their venues and events. Ensuring a more functional, product catered to user experience despite the limitations we faced.Hosts of certain events/venues can interact with a unique ‘Host Interface’ enabling them to have a statistics board providing the following:
Real-time updates on music statistics, genre trends
Upvote and Downvote statistics board
Live Pairing activity

UX Strategy & Product Pivot
Faced with hypothetical budget and time constraints, we shifted our original design approach to a more streamlined app experience. I focused on user experience and the interface and incorporated a simplified process in purchasing and pairing through the app.
We cut down on materials that would be used, opting for cheaper materials and aimed for recyclable/reusable green friendly product.

Designing the app went through various phases, color tones until we found the color that we felt most represented a bright energetic party theme that attributed to our company’s design.

We opted for specific bright and monotone diverse colors to capitalize on the energetic party theme.
We kept the design simple, sleek and fun to appeal to our target audience.
